For my project I decided to make a work combining sculpture with a digital image. The sculpture being the analog and the image being the digital. I want to show a figure rejecting all the bullshit we are fed from the time we are born, though this is impossible because the amount of bullshit is pretty much endless. So I made the image up of things that I could think of in the short time frame, and came up with this. I put things like the twin towers in there because I strongly think that 9/11 was a false flag terrorist operation. I stuck Jesus and a cross in there as religion goes against basic logic and holds the human species back, restricting people giving them a closed world view. Also some government buildings because politicians are as useless as it gets, as they have no technical abilities and don’t know how to solve problems. I threw weapons and some racist things in as they are symptoms of our sick society. And a major one is money, I can’t stand money as it is being used to enslave to world. Money was made in a time of real scarcity and is no longer needed as we have the technology and means to create abundance, right now all over the world. I put the intense light in the middle to represent the awakening of the person realising the symbiotic and emergent relationship to nature.

As for the sculpture I want to make the figure looking like he is realising something, waking up in other words. But as I only got my idea on the second last Friday, it wont be anything great. But I will still try and get the idea across. I done some rough sketches to figure out what pose I want.

Evaluation

I like the idea I ended up with, I think projection and sculpture connect well together giving a strong effect. It would have been awesome if I had decided on what I was doing a week sooner, because I think I would have executed it a lot better. I don’t really like the pose I chose for the sculpture, to me it doesn’t really look like the figure is questioning himself or realising something is wrong. But I got some interesting feedback. Sue thought that the figure was a product of the aberrated environment, which I can see how that would appear to be so. Also another person thought the figure was aggressively fending the sick and twisted environment off. I will take this into consideration when I move onto sculpture next semester. Because I made this a sort of concept for what I plan to do in sculpture, I will be incorporating similar concepts of society and ideas to promote the Zeitgeist Movement. Over all I enjoyed EA, it was a thought invoking subject, like digitality for example. With awesome teaching.

THE ZEITGEIST MOVEMENT

The Zeitgeist Movement is the activist arm of the Venus Project, who advocate a resource-based economy, fully enabling the scientific method. A resource-based economy is like nothing that has been tried or thought up before. Declaring the world’s resources common heritage of all people, giving everyone shouter, food, warmth and all the necessities without servitude or any type of payment. Leaving no one behind. This is a very basic view of it.

The main goal at the moment is communication, to inform as many people of the movement as possible. So when the time comes to make a move everyone will know where to go and what to do. A lot of people think it is about communities, designing a new society in of its self. This whole thing is about reorienting the culture, the technology side of it are tools that will enable this new cultural revolution.

The movement is my main source of inspiration at the moment, alot of my information I get from Peter Joseph’s Bi-Weekly Radio HERE. And a good interview which he explains the 2 movies he has made and the movement.

Jacque Fresco is the creator of The Venus Project. He is a social engineer and a industrial designer, but really he is a multi-disciplinarian. I think what the Venus Project proposes is the best thing I’ve ever heard of, definitly the most logical direction for humanity anyway. This is a short clip of Jacque on Larry King’s show.

I recently looked up a character George Carlin, he is a comedian tha focuses on political, religious and social subjects. He tells it how it is with basic logic and common sense, and I agree with most the things he says.

Tony Oursler

Tony Ourslers works are very interesting, even though they seem grotesque at first. From what I understand of his work, it’s the representation of what the media is doing to people. I like his work Eye in the Sky which is an eye projected onto a sphere shaped sculpture, it is watching TV. Ridiculously changing channels, being brainwashed I guess. I agree with his ideas, as I can not stand television or mainstream media, I think it’s mindless crap that distracts people from more important things. I plan to use projection with sculpture to get across a sort of a Zeitgeist themed work. Which links kind of well to Tony’s work except I will use a still digital image.

Gel Transfer

To make a transfer using this method you need a printed image preferably not more than 1 day old. You need sommething to transfer to, like good paper or fabric. You need the Gel Medium, brush and a roller or something to push the two surfaces together.

Step 1: Apply the Gel Medium to the face side of the printed Image, the place it to the surface face down. Surface must be dry. Roll it, or put weight on it. Let it dry.

Step 2: Spray water on it and begin wiping the paper off with your fingers, till all paper is gone. Let it dry.

Step 3: To seal it cover with thin coat of the Gel Medium, and let it dry.

These are the Gel Transfers I done. Image then the finished transfer.
